Gran Melia Cancun

Hotel Features. At Gran Melia Cancun, Mayan architecture

Gran Melia Hotel Cancun featuring five connecting pyramid-topped buildings by the beach peaked with glass skylights are the hotel's hallmark. The two freeform pools are surrounded by lounge areas and thatched- roof palapas that shade large platform beds ideal for lounging. Of the pools, one features a swim-up bar, and the other is paired with a children's pool where supervised age-appropriate activities are hosted daily. A nine-hole, par-three executive golf course is available and water sports gear is available for rental. The spa offers individualized packages that include facial scrubs, body treatments and hair care. A complimentary men's and women's locker room area includes access to saunas, a steam room and fitness center.

Hotel dining includes five restaurant selections ranging from Mexican to Italian cuisine. Select dining areas offer open-air seating, sea views and buffet-style accommodations. Flexible meeting spaces include a multi-purpose foyer and banquet area. A business center features computers with wireless Internet access.

Guestrooms. The nine-floor hotel includes 700 spacious guestrooms and suites, many offering water views and include balconies or ground-floor terraces draped in tropical plants. Guestrooms feature marbled floors, dining sets and Mayan-style furnishings. Private bathrooms include cultured marble surroundings, shower/tub combinations, vanities and bidets. Select rooms include scented towels, bathrobes and slippers.

Expert Tip. Complimentary adult activities include Spanish and dancing lessons, water aerobics, bingo, and beach volleyball. A complimentary sound-and-light show, sometimes including Mayan dancers, takes place in the main building's garden atrium twice weekly.
