Jobs in Cancun, Mexico are somewhat divided up by what language you are most comfortable with. Employment in the Hotel Zone is the best for english speaking work in Cancun since that is mainly related to dealing with the tourists.
But there are also many schools in the area that teach English and other languages where you can submit your resume if you are interested in teaching when relocating to Cancun.
Living in Cancun, working abroad.
With today's computer and internet communication, nothing should stop you from living in Cancun, Mexico but having your employment outside the country. The great thing is that foreign income is not taxable when you are in Cancun on a FM3 green card. However, you will have to pay taxes in your country of residence. Since the living expenses are cheap in Mexico, you will normally benefit from this arrangement.
Speaking Spanish is an advantage
Since english speaking work in Cancun are mostly suited for tourism. Speaking both Spanish and English gives you a great advantage since many international corporations are located in Cancun. Walmart, Sears, Hilton, Ritz, most airlines and more are all here.
Not knowing spanish fluently in the beginning is not a problem. By just being here you will pick it up quickly and maybe from there get a better job. Of cource there are many spanish classes you can take in Cancun to speed things up.
Get your FM3
If you plan to work in Cancun you need to have the "working" FM3. It needs to be renewed each year. In your FM3, the specific job you have in Mexico needs to be specified, and changed if you switch employment. We highly recommed you to have these papers in order to avoid any problems with the government.

The pay
The sallaries are not great for employment but it goes a long way. It is common that people living in Cancun are making about 400-800 dollars/month. Money goes a long way here though, since taxes are low. Utilities are low since no heating bill needs to be paid, and the water bill is less than 6 dollars a month. Food expenses are minimal.
